Club History
The origins of the Club date back to 1942 when the Belgian Government in London set up the Belgian Institute in Belgrave Square to propagate knowledge of Belgium, its people, its arts and its institutions. After the war the Anglo-Belgian Club was established to take up and pursue the activities of the Institute, and it became a well-known Anglo-Belgian base in London. At the end of the lease on the Belgrave Square house in 1978, the Club was able to associate with the prestigious Royal Thames Yacht Club, established in 1775, in their fine premises in Knightsbridge.
The Royal Thames Yacht Club has 1500 members and the Anglo-Belgian Club just over 450. The Club is situated in a unique location overlooking Hyde Park. The Club offers well-appointed bedrooms, bar, lounge, and restaurant facilities, as well as committee and reception rooms which can be hired by members.
The Club's President is H.R.H. Prince Philippe of Belgium.
